Chapter 113: Local Observations

The Spring is in the air.
It has started few days ago, on and off, but still, it's here.
I am super busy with work, like insanely, but it's good.
I am trying to manage to write at least once a week here, so far, so good.
I have few ideas of stuff I'd like to try, and people I'd like to connect with, but one step at the time, I had  a mad crazy week, the craziest I had in a very long time.
This said, I'd like to share some pics I took recently, I guess that's my local observations of the month, the stuff I notice.

Every morning, for the past 4 months or so, I leave our house at about 6 am and walk all the way to work.
I go through different streets that the one I use to take with my former job, it's an entirely different feeling, and mostly, it's a completely different time of the morning!
It is actually enjoyable, and I do my back and forth from work, mostly happily.
But the light in the sky is changing, and it is changing fast.
This is especially noticeable early in the morning.
Here are two different shots, same spot, same time, one week apart.
NDLR: Oh, I played with the pics more than usual this time, I am trying stuff that I could use in other stuff.....

Simcoe St - Mid April 2012

From there, I keep on going.
It is only recently that I started to open my eyes again, I guess I kinda woke up from something, the winter I guess.
One side of the sky is often dark and almost black, while the other is getting coloured by a soon to show it's face, Mr. Sun. It's a classic, and still, it is majestic.
Here's how it was few days ago, from that weird James Bay parking lot, at about 6 am:

Victoria - Early Morning Sun

Then, from there, I pass by the Parliament, and go all the way to work in the Hillside-Douglas area.
Now, one thing is interesting, like before, I still go up Government St, still all the way to Chinatown, but this time I walk on the other side of the street. It's odd what we do without thinking, and then, we re-analyze, and understand it as a thought process...
Anyway, here are few things that I notice last week, which, really, are pretty funny:

On top of the list, who had the great idea to park his truck in front of Starbucks?
Seriously??!?! I ain't a huge fan of the coffee place, but still...

The Greatest Parking Spot

Then, few steps away, the absolute proof that the Spring is here: A gentleman sleeping on the door steps of Eddie Bauer:

The Traveler

On my side, shops of chocolates and clothes share the entire street.
Here and there, a tourist store, with signs of great deals inside.
Once in a while, a restaurant.
On one of the ladies clothing store, they were displaying those outfits.
Now, i ain't a specialist, and I certainly win;'t a lady, but, who you really buy any of those?
Like, seriously????!!!

Blue & Red Outfit

That's Just Peachy!

Eventually, I end up at work...

I was wondering few things about photography, is it that a photographer is a journalist of the eye?
Investigating and reporting about the details of life?
What, mostly, we don't pay attention to, and so, we are glad that someone reminded us that this was still there to be looked at.
I, however, cannot entirely subscribe to the over conceptualization of art, in general...

Here, a most interesting reflexion on the building dear to my good friend Fae:

Reflexion on Douglas

Here, another reflexion, on the beautiful body of a beautiful car.
Now, I am not a big fan of German cars in general, and Porsche is no exception.
But here, I must admit that I'm hooked:

I like sunny Sundays, with a soft fresh breeze, on a quiet day of early Spring.
Not like today, with a grey sky, and a wind that seems cold.
But more like few weeks ago, and last week, when Ethan and I took the opportunity to go on a nice walk.
Here and there, I was reminded that the renewal of life was in the process.
I don't know if it was because I was overly dressed, but I remember that day as quite warm!
I probably was overly dressed...

First, there were the cherry trees, all blossomy and fascinating.
The richness of the shapes, colours and scent is always as overwhelming:

White Cherry Tree & Blue Sky

Then, there was the ocean.
That's a winner!
Never disappointed with the ocean.
Always hypnotic, never the same.

We walked along the rocks, we pretended we were explorers, and we found plenty of secret treasures.

Water Pool

We left.
We passed by a football field, and decided to cross it.

But at last, we had to go home.
Someone was getting bored with all that adventure stuff.

Ethan

Everything is always everywhere.
Like the lady coming out of the building, in the previous picture.
It's always there, we just don't see it... Most of the time...

One last thing today, you all probably know that already, but I just never know what's going on, so, this is new for me, and I like it a fair bit.
The album is good, but that is special.
I always get moved so much when people mean what they sing.
That is when I can relate to someone the most.
Maybe, we all are like this.

Gotye - Somebody That I Used To Know (feat. Kimbra)

Ok, that's all for now folks.
Have yourself a good week.

Sincerely,

Serge

  1. Love your observations and the retrospective of Vic. Yes, seriously, who would wear those dresses? What were the textures you use on the photographs? Love them!! Really, you must share them...
